Magnificent Monash

With its leafy streets, iconic villages, outstanding education facilities, and of course, Melbourne’s ‘fashion capital’, the fortunate citizens of Monash know they’re living in one of Australia’s best residential cities.

Stretching west from Oakleigh and Warrigal Road to the lush banks of the meandering Dandenong Creek, the city of Monash is home to large family villas with sweeping back yards and the latest in contemporary townhouses and upscale apartments. There is no shortage of variety and choice in a district as diverse and colourful as Monash.

Few regions of Melbourne can match the city for its educational institutions, with the world-renowned Monash University as the centrepiece, supported by Holmesglen TAFE and a host of distinguished schools including Presbyterian Ladies College, Oakleigh Grammar, Huntingtower School, Wesley College’s Glen Waverley campus, and the Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley Secondary Colleges.

Two train lines and the eponymous Monash Freeway zip through the district providing swift, hassle-free access to the CBD and the country, while distinguished golf courses, lush reserves, fine art galleries, sports facilities, and shopping and entertainment options to suit every taste, abound throughout this remarkable city. Possibly the most fascinating urban village in Melbourne can be found in Oakleigh, where colonial heritage and post-war European influence combine in a delightful fusion of Austral-Hellenic culture, and visitors can be easily forgiven for thinking they’ve landed in a delightful Greek village – just moments from the glistening upmarket boutiques and fashion stores of nearby Chadstone.

Such cultural diversity is not constrained to Oakleigh however, as evidenced by the exceptional cuisine on offer across the city – from the popular Mocha Jo’s in the heart of Glen Waverley, to the daily treats at Son of Tucci and the Mediterranean-inspired, cosmopolitan menu of 57 Café Bar Restaurant in Mount Waverley, not to mention the mezes, spanakopita, moussaka and baklava that tempt the tastebuds in and around Oakleigh’s colourful Eaton Mall.

With its gourmet food markets, prestige boutiques, open space and world-class civic facilities, Monash is a city that’s deservedly proud of everything that it offers to a full spectrum of homebuyers and property investors.
